Duncan McLaughlin: Passive Stretch to Performance

EasyCare Article Image

There is no getting around it. The legs of your horse are going to take a pounding. The repetitive nature of training and competition means that his leg muscles are going to become tighter and shorter. This will reduce his stride and can even cause pain. One way to mitigate the effects of repetitive use/overuse damage to your horse’s legs is to incorporate some leg stretches into his work routine. Continue reading...

From Garrett's Desk

EasyCare Article Image

When you are immersed in a product, a company, a relationship or a new horse, it’s easy to get lost in the process and forget about the hard work you put in on a daily basis along the way. The young green horse you started with years ago isn’t quite there but now seems like a polished, perfect horse when you hop on a new youngster.

It’s often hard to see the daily growth, but when you look back it’s evident that many hours and some frustrating moments helped shape the progress. The daily wet saddle blankets are the keys to progress in life and the reasons why horses, companies and relationships succeed. Continue reading...

Heather & Jeremy Reynolds on Git 'R' Done

EasyCare Article Image

On April 10, Jeremy Reynolds made an achievement worthy of recognition when he won the Git ‘R’ Done 100 mile three-star FEI race on his horse, Sir Smith, with a an impressive finishing time of 8 hours, 36 minutes. He also won the coveted Best Condition award.

Jeremy and Sir Smith were 1hour, 45 minutes in front of the next horse, and the ninth place horse took exactly twice as long to complete the course. We believe Easyboots are a major component of a very successful holistic training strategy employed by Reynolds Racing. With several notable exceptions, it is very challenging to train horses that can stand up to the miles and speed required. Continue reading...

Customer Photo of the Month: Lucy Thompson & Kengis in Kent, England

Alt

I was so pleased with Kengis that day. We have not done an event for a year due to foot abscesses which led us to trying barefoot. He is also 21 so I was so chuffed when they announced that we had won! He used to trip quite a bit with traditional shoes on but since going barefoot he rarely trips at all now and I am amazed in the change in his feet.

Kengis is a Russian Don. I bought him as an eight year-old from a riding vacation I went on. They had brought him over from Russia. I only had him two years when he went very very lame, leading to six months' stall rest. After that time the vets told me to have him put to sleep. I refused and took him home to my parent's place in Kent where we could look after him 24 hours a day. I started to walk him in hand and after a month he was sound. Continue reading...
